1926 he
published his work. The heart of it was an equation, later known as Schrödinger’s wave equation. It followed Werner
Heisenberg’s matrix mechanics, but most scientists preferred Schrödinger’s equation, because it was more visual. Schrödinger established the correctness of the equation by applying it to the hydrogen
atom, predicting many of its properties with remarkable accuracy.
In 1926 also the
American microbiologist Selman Waksman publishes
Enzymes.
